Overview: The Shift to the Advisory Level

To align with global accounting standards, ICAN is phasing out the old CAP III structure.

• Registration: Any student registering for the final level on or after March 1, 2026, will fall strictly under the new Advisory Level syllabus.
• First Exam Batch: The very first board examinations for this new syllabus will be conducted in June 2028.
• Last Old Syllabus Exam: The final attempt for students enrolled under the old CAP III curriculum will take place in June 2029.

Eligibility & Articleship Requirements (3 Years)

To enroll in the Advisory Level, you must have:

1. Successfully passed both groups of the Application Level (CAP II).
2. Completed the mandatory 60 hours of IT Training and the General Management & Communication Skill (GMCS) Training.
3. Signed an Articleship Deed with a practicing, licensed Chartered Accountant in Nepal to serve as a paid articled trainee for exactly 3 years.

The New CAP III Syllabus in Nepal (Subject Breakdown)

The Advisory Level curriculum is divided into two distinct groups, totaling 6 advanced papers. Unlike the previous level, every single paper here focuses on high-level corporate problem-solving.

Group I Subjects

• Paper 1: Advanced Financial Reporting (100 Marks). Focuses on complex, consolidated financial statements and deep compliance with international financial reporting standards (IFRS/NFRS).
• Paper 2: Advanced Business and Financial Management (100 Marks). Covers corporate restructuring, mergers and acquisitions, forex risk, and international investment strategies.

Group II Subjects

• ICAN Registration Fee: The official registration fee for the Advisory Level is approximately NPR 40,900 (payable in installments).
• Coaching Fees: Private CA coaching centers typically charge between NPR 40,000 to NPR 60,000 for final-level tuition.
• Articleship Stipend: While you pay these fees, you also earn money. During your 3-year Articleship, your audit firm is legally required to pay you a monthly stipend, which increases every year, helping offset your educational costs.

1. Balance Office and Study: The biggest reason students fail the final level is exhaustion. Working from 10 AM to 5 PM at an audit firm and then studying at night is grueling. You must build a strict daily morning study routine.
