All stories do not have a happy ending, and this week’s new release Prakash movie is one of them. That is a spoiler for the story’s end, but the rest is a wholesome experience. Go watch it if you have time.

Prakash depicts a mother-son family’s desire to discover a joyful light in their lives. When you come from a poor background, all you can do is work hard to attain the best, yet you feel dead when the politically crooked system tears you down. Despite their pains and challenges, the main characters attempt to bring you on a voyage of adversity and hard work.

Sita, portrayed by Diya Maskey, and Prakash, played by Pradeep Khadka, live in the heart of the Jumla area. They have a poor economic state in the neighborhood and must struggle hard to stay afloat. Prakash is a bright young guy who excels in his academics. He hopes to become a teacher in a community school as his profession. He shines in teaching assessments and breezes through all interviews since he is always ready and focused on his objectives. And the difficulty is that his actions are disliked by the social elite and the politically influential, putting a cloud over his dreams.

Prakash is a refreshing film experience for the Nepali audience. It ditches a lot of the overused tropes and lets the scene, the character and the chemistry between them grow organically.

Pradeep Khadka, who was formerly known for his work in romance dramas, now takes on social dramas. The actor has done amazing work in the favored role, and we love him even more for it. In all emotions and circumstances, the actor takes you on his horrible trip, which occasionally makes you laugh and most of the time makes you cry since the guy worked hard but his dreams were killed by elite people of the community. Pradeep Khadka’s performance in Prakash is outstanding, and he steals the show.

Diya Maskey has done an excellent job portraying Sita. Diya plows the field, and farms, and undertakes agricultural and home chores as though she had years of expertise. Diya completely comprehended the role and played accordingly, thus the tone and dialogue are pretty enjoyable to hear and watch. Diya’s side is best represented by a single mother’s real love and commitment to her child’s destiny. Not to mention, Diya has a fantastic character presentation and shines brilliantly in the character.

Dinesh Raut, the director of Prakash, who lovingly crafted the entire film with his heart and soul. Building a genuine character living in Jumla to execute in the true circumstance is one of the most difficult challenges for a filmmaker, but he handles it with ease. His vision in showing the film’s magnificent visuals and filmmaking keeps you on the edge of your seat. Dinesh Raut establishes himself as a significant and visionary filmmaker in Nepali cinema by setting the picture in the little village of Jumla and generating stunning narratives through visuals, costumes, character casting, and amusing screenplay.

Many might find the pacing slow, or find the issue with the lighting but it is justified for this movie.

As it is refreshing, the film is worth watching for Nepali spectators who seek a realistic, heartwarming experience.
